As you might know, Dan Fobert is one of my heroes. He's the fellow that came up with the Spiro rosette. Remember this? ![]() Seems he's always thinking up new (and sometimes better) ways of doing things. Lately in one of those lulls while the glue dries, his mind wandered over to cam clamp design. Useful tools, but they require two hands. Could one be made to operate with only one hand? And here is his solution: ![]() The operation is smooth and sure. The two-way switch operates that small electric motor. It has a gear which mates to a toothed wheel which is tapped to run up and down a 3/16" threaded brass rod, pulling the upper arm with it. Here's another shot: ![]() And finally, an almost-good shot of Dan and his amazing clamp: ![]() This was the hit of the last LINT meeting. One can hardly wait to see what Dan will think up next.... Hope you enjoy these shots, and if you want to go into production on these babies, ask Dan first. ![]() Steve |

Sorry Steve, but I think Black and Decker has beaten Dan to the punch. Check out the following link. Black and Decker Clamp |

Don, that's interesting, all right. But it looks like a little different concept, and for sure, the "cool" factor isn't there. (Read "eccentric".)Wouldn't you agree? ![]() Steve |
